AhlulBayt News Agency: The Engineering Projects Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine has begun implementing a project to establish a water purification and desalination station near the Maqam of Imam Al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his holy reappearance).
The engineer of the project, Mr. Hussein Mohammad Baqir, said: "The department's staff have begun the construction of a water purification and desalination station behind the Maqam of Imam Al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his holy reappearance) to provide drinking water for the visitors of the shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them), as well as to serve the local residents, as part of the plan to develop the old city being implemented by the holy shrine, which aims to enhance the infrastructure and improve the service reality in the city."
He added that "the station will contribute to providing fresh water sources after removing salts, impurities, and others, ensuring improved water quality and reducing the scarcity of its source."
Baqir mentioned that "this station is one of several stations being implemented by the department within the old city, as part of urban development projects, in line with the holy shrine's plan aimed at securing water for visitors and improving the level of services provided to them."
